Similac ready to feed vs powder

My son just turned two months so the pediatrician said we could switch to powder formula if we want. Right now we use similac pro sensitive ready to feed and he has silent reflux and gas so this formula is finally working for him so I'm hesitant to switch to powder. Do they both work the same? Thank you!

Depends, the water and stuff you choose to mix it with could introduce things he's not use to. Similac uses sterile water to make their ready to feed

My daughter won't take the powder..

My daughter HATES the powder formula. Only takes ready to feed. I taste tested both actually and the ready to feed tastes better than the powder, much sweeter and less chemically.

We don't use that specific formula but have never found any difference between ready to feed and powder formula apart from the colour. The powder one is a white while the RTF is more of a cream colour. We've been using powder formula since getting home from the hospital.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I'm hesitant to change it. I'll probably stick to the ready feed. I was surprised that my Dr said not to even use powder until 2 months. I've never heard of that before and my family has always used powder formula.

If you do switch, you can buy a formula pitcher to make it in advance so there's no bubbles and it can thicken up in the fridge.

@DelScorcho,

Yes, agree! I use the Dr. Brown's Formula Mixing Pitcher and it's a game changer when preparing bottles. No foam or clumps!

I might try the concentrate formula that you add water to over the powder just because I find powder formula in general is such a pain to break up and make sure it's fully dissolved in the water

Honestly we just keep buying the ready to feed for convenience, but the powder is terribly foamy so that's always my excuse.

My son doesn't have any reflux or anything so we use the pro advance and he switched perfectly fine

Following because my daughter is almost 10 weeks and we are still using RTF. (Some pediatricians recommend refraining using powdered formula until 2 months old because there were a couple of babies who got infections due to bacteria entering bottles from using powder. These babies were less than 2 months old, so doctors use this as guidance for the age cut-off.) Super unlikely though and I think we are also thinking about finally switching to powder.
